Locks of Love

My Middle daughter turned 9 last weekend. (pics to follow) She had a great day. She really wanted to cut her hair for Locks of Love. Being somewhat protective of her feelings I thought this weekend would be better this weekend (not the day of her party). I think I was wrong, she LOVES her new haircut!!! It is really different, and wonderful. I think donating it to a great cause really helps her feel so proud and happy about the transformation.
You go Girl. We love the new look!!!

Trying to figure out christmas!

My almost 12 year old really wants a cell phone. Santa will have to help me out on this one. But I was on http://www.designmom.com/ this morning. Check out his great coloring book http://www.phillewisart.com/coloringbook.html.
She might be getting to old, but for some strange reason I am not?
Have a beautiful day.
Wow, the weather is just perfect this week!

October!

I just love this month! It is because this is the month I was born. This is the month I got married. This is the month that the weather starts to change. I love change (unlike my oldest daughter) I love that my wardrobe changes that my hair changes (no humidity to ruin my hair that I just spent an hour on putting up in rollers) I miss the beach but I have crunchy leaves that change into amazing colors. I still have my summer skin but I get to wear jeans! I love the warm sun and cool nights! What is there not to like? Bring it on I am ready to turn 41!
I think I need to buy my car a present... Anyone have front seats for a 64 Ghia Vert?

What am I doing?

Just got back from the New Hope Arts Festival
As I ponder on what I want to do in my creative life and how I am going to work and still be a stay at home mother and wife. I wanted to see what is out there in the world of craft shows. I LOVE to do the Shad Festival in Lambertville N.J. Lambertville, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce I have a booth in which we sell Fish T-Shirts. It is an activity and when you take it home it is actually useful. (Unlike sand art) The kids paint a rubber fish we print their art on the shirt for them to wear, proudly!

Now as we head into winter and gift giving I am thinking of getting back to jewelry and felt making. This is sort of where I left off many years ago so I could be called Mommy full time.
The thing about this show is there are to many jewelers and photographers. I could feel what it would be like if I went back into doing shows. I don't like doing them. I would spend so much time making inventory then just have to sit there hoping someone would stop, then if they did I would have to be a salesman. Yuck! I stopped at a woman's booth and she just stood on the other side waiting for me to ask to see something. It kind of makes me uncomfortable and I am sure she was too, she is an artist not a sales woman. I really liked the woman who had the recycled felted scarfs and head warmers. This is what I think is useful. I am more likely to spend our hard earned money on this. We got to see one of my mother's closed friends Helena van Emmerik--Finn Fine Art . All my girls are really drawn to her work, so am I. I hope to one day to have an original.
So what am I thinking going back into jewelry??
Hope to have my Etsy store up soon so check back soon to see what evolves...

The first Dress!

We have three girls! Ever since I gave birth to our first I have wanted to make clothes for them. Well the oldest is 11 and starting middle school so now my challenge is to make something that doesn't look "home made". Luckily the youngest still loves anything I do... So here it is my first dress...

I hope to make more this year! Wish me luck it took me 11 years to make one dress.

Wedding birds

I had made these birds for G's teacher who got married over the summer break. We had a "wedding shower" theme for the end of the year party. Good luck Ms.G!

This is why I love summer. Why can't my Mom still cook for me?

Breakfast Buddies

The same old faces at breakfast! I love them all!!

Fireplace Commission

This is the fireplace that Harry and I collaborated on. Danielle Datz had a vision and she contacted Harry and myself to carry out her design. Harry did all the beautiful built ins. Then the home owner and I worked on the design for quite awhile, then I wood burned the trees in place. Painted the whole piece then, I carved stamps of the bird that represented each family member. The family that commissioned it was so kind. Between my surgery and the fact that my family life is sometimes all consuming. They were so patient!!!!!! Thank you for such a great experience. I know the image is bad but the birds really pop.

When is it time to move?

Why is it that I am thinking of moving and puppies? I don't really want to do either? A lot of my friends are doing both, I see how hard it is and for some strange reason I want to also. Just when I think I am content. We are trying to figure out, do we move now, 10 years from now, or refinance? Any advice?

So Cool

So back to Fe Fe's Monster Birthday Bash... Every Child designed his/her monster. I stayed up VERY late constructing them. When the kids came for the party they were able to stuff and decorate their friends. It would not be a birthday celebration without candy sushi for the class in school.

I am always looking for cool inspiration for the kids and house check out the climbing tree...
