Doll for Talia

I have finished my first doll.    Mimi Kirchner created the pattern for Pearl Bee Mimi's Hand Sewn Felt Dolls - the purl bee.  I had to start someplace.  The pattern and instructions were easy to follow, even though I changed it just a little.  Like I made the dress into a coat, I changed the hair using the pattern for the second style.  I realized I like a little more production (for the project to go a little quicker) and I am not that good at hand sewing.  Which is all this doll is.  I made her for my very good friend's daughter.  She is turning 5 and is a "girlie girl" but someday I hope she will appreciate where this comes from. (My heart)  Happy Birthday Talia!  I am ready for my next doll and I think so are my girls!!!  A huge inspiration is the work of Jess Brown- Jess Brown Design
Check out Mimi's website- Doll  and Purl Bee- the purl bee - the purl bee both the best!!!

Summer of Independence

So Summer is finally here!  The rain has seemed to stop for the moment.  The sun is shining and the humidity is not here yet.  I am so happy.  Mainly because the girls are getting along great.
I think not having the TV on is a help!

Every summer for the past few years I have labeled the summer as "The Summer of Sisterhood".  This because during the school year we seem to be a family that meets on nights (always to eat dinner together)and weekends.  There is so much going on that the girls don't get to just "hang out".  So basically that is what our summer is for.  I was reading janesapron.com and she is having
"Summer of Independence"
Check it out she sums it the same way I would. This is her pledge.
Where age-appropriate and within reason,
I pledge to help my kids
develop their independence
through practical activities that are
directly related to life skills
I hope I linked it correctly to Jane's blog.

My First Baby is now 10!

Wow my daughter is now 10.  May 24 to be exact. It is amazing to me that when I look back I can remember everything about her birth.  My (& our) days were long and slow over the last 10 years.  But life seems to be speeding up and I cannot believe it has already been 10 years she has been with us.  My sister-in-law reminded me today that we just have 8 more years with them, till we send them out into the world for the first time.  It seems that I have some work ahead of me.
I love you Bella!  Please stay true to your self!
